ROADWAYS LITERACY ACADEMY
A school designed for students who learn differently
Grades 1-8 • Qualified Independent School • Full Saskatchewan Curriculum
Roadways Academy offers a different kind of school experience.
Our school exists because not all children learn the same way, and they shouldn’t be expected to.
We support students with dyslexia and other learning differences by replacing one-size-fits-all instruction with individualized learning, small group teaching, and evidence-based literacy support.
With experienced teachers and a relationship-first approach, students make meaningful progress and rediscover what it feels like to succeed at school.
The Roadways Difference
Many students come to us feeling discouraged or misunderstood. We focus on rebuilding confidence, trust, and wellbeing.
Our
Environment
Our school environment is quiet, predictable, nurturing, and designed to reduce anxiety—especially for learners who have experienced years of struggle.
Our
Teachers
Our teachers form close, caring relationships with each learner, providing emotional safety alongside academic support. Their dedication is one of the strongest parts of our approach.
Our
Students
Our students make friends, have fun, and enjoy coming to school. Small groups and daily wins help rebuild confidence and create a true sense of belonging.

Is Roadways Literacy Academy the Right Fit for Your Child?
Many families come to Roadways after years of worry, frustration, and wondering why school feels so hard. If your child is bright and capable but struggling in a traditional setting, Roadways may be a good fit.
Our full-time school is often a great fit for students who:
Have dyslexia or suspected dyslexia
Struggle with foundational reading, writing, or math
Feel overwhelmed or lost in busy, fast-paced classrooms
Need instruction that is slower-paced and tailored
Experience anxiety or frustration related to school
Benefit from predictable routines and strong relationships
Show creative, verbal, or problem-solving strengths but have trouble with reading and writing
We welcome learners from across Saskatchewan whose needs are not being met in traditional settings.
How We Teach
(And Why It Works)
At Roadways, we teach in a way that helps struggling learners succeed — no guessing, no overwhelm, no falling behind.
-
When students get the attention they deserve, everything changes.
At Roadways, students benefit from:
Maximum 4:1 student-teacher ratio
Individualized instruction all day long (not just for literacy)
Deep relationships with teachers who guide with precision, patience, and responsiveness
A calm, focused environment only a small group can provide
Many of our students achieve as much growth in 4-5 months as their peers in a traditional classroom achieve in 10 months.
-
Our entire academic program is grounded in the Science of Reading — taught clearly, explicitly, and at a pace that supports struggling learners.
Our program includes:
phonological awareness
phonics and decoding
spelling and morphology
reading fluency
vocabulary and comprehension
structured writing
math foundations
Instruction is sequential, cumulative, and explicit. It’s designed specifically for learners who have not thrived in standard classroom settings.
-
Every child learns differently, and our approach honors that. Each student begins with assessments that help us understand their strengths and needs. We then create customized learning plans that guide instruction in:
literacy
math
writing
science and social studies
executive functioning
emotional and self-regulation skills
Because classes are small, instructors can adjust pacing and support daily — not months later.
-
We track growth throughout the year using a variety of structured assessments.
Families receive regular updates, progress reports, and opportunities to meet and plan together.
If something isn’t working, we adjust immediately, with families informed every step of the way.
-
Many dyslexic learners shine in creativity, storytelling, visual-spatial reasoning, and hands-on thinking.
We honor these strengths through:
art and creative expression
hands-on learning
student entrepreneurship events
collaborative projects
opportunities to build leadership and confidence
Students’ strengths are woven intentionally into the learning experience.
